This project is an offshoot of my web development and design firm, Orion Creative Group, which I’ve been running for over ten years in San Diego, California.
In response to a lot of inquiries from clients, friends, and guys that stop me in traffic to ask me about this stuff (okay, I just made up that last one, but it seriously feels like it sometimes) I decided to give this part of my work its own life on the web.
I’m not about being a “social media expert.” There are enough of those already. First and foremost, I’m a branding guy, and I love to help people develop an online voice and relate to an audience. Social media is a killer tool for doing that, probably the best one to come along in my lifetime, and so I’ve gotten pretty deeply involved in it. But I've talked to some people who believe that social media has obliterated traditional marketing values. I disagree. In my view the fundamentals of branding are the same as they've ever been - they're rooted in human nature and they're independent of platform or paradigm. If anything, I think that a core knowledge of branding and positioning is even more important with today's low "signal-to-noise" ratio online.
I’ve devoted a portion of my team to helping our clients connect with a bigger audience using new social media tools. I also recognize that brands and marketing pros should actually understand these tools and be conversant with them, even if they ultimately hire a firm to handle this part of the marketing process. So I provide a hands-on, practical social media training program to help you jump-start those efforts.
Ultimately, it all begins and ends with communication. Social media is a platform for carrying on a conversation with a huge global audience who can (and should) know about your brand.
